How To Create An Amazing Life
Creating an amazing life is what everyone dreams about, it’s what everyone is working towards. Getting that amazing home, creating that amazing social life, getting that dream job and most importantly, to be happy with your life. Each of us works towards getting a better future every day.
Everyone wants this, and the truth is, you’re the one in control. You are the one who can make a change at any giving moment if you put the effort in. You have the same amount of time as everyone else, what matters is how you use that time.
You are more powerful than you think. You have the power to change your life from this very second onward. I see plenty of people who are bored of their own life yet they don’t do anything about it. They go home and complain about it but don't change anything. If you want change, you have to create that change.
Creating your dream life is a process, and maybe that process will last your whole life, but as long as you are improving and achieving, you are on the way to your dream life. Don’t worry if you make mistakes along the way, that’s very normal. Making mistakes is a part of succeeding. If you are making mistakes, it means you are learning and growing. Everyone makes mistakes. Mistakes are proof you are trying something.
If you want a life that is very different to the one you are living now, here are some top tips to help you create your dream life;
‘Sometimes later becomes never, do it now’
Write a list of what you want your life to be like
I love writing lists. The main reason I write lists is because I tend to forget most things I think about, so writing things down on paper means ideas won’t slip away. As soon as I come up with an idea, I write it in my journal for later use. Creating lists help you see what you are aiming for. It helps you visualise those dreams rather than them be a passing thought.
So when you have some time, write down what you want your dream life to look like. What job would you like to be doing? How can you work your way towards that dream job? What salary would you like to be earning? What activities would you like to start doing? Write down your goals and then write down ways you can get closer to them. Working on your goals gives you a sense of purpose in life, especially when you start achieving them.
Believe in yourself
This one is extremely important. You have to believe in yourself. You have to act and present yourself like you are already living your dream life. Make yourself look presentable. Walk in every place like you already have achieved your goals. The term ‘fake it til you make it’ comes in handy here. If you don’t believe in yourself, no one else will do it for you. You have to put yourself out there, meet people, apply for that dream job, try that new activity. Opportunities rarely come to you, you must go to them.
‘If you are waiting for a sign, this is it’
Work towards your dream job
Let’s face it, work takes up a lot of your life, so you need to enjoy it. It’s such a shame that Monday morning has such a bad vibe nowadays, and it’s not because Monday morning is a bad thing, it’s because people have become complacent, and are sticking with jobs that they don’t enjoy. So why not work towards a job you do enjoy?
If you could wake up and do anything, do that. DO something you are passionate about, DO something you enjoy. You shouldn’t resent your work. You should strive for something that excites you, something that brings out the best in you. You shouldn’t just trade your time for money.
As we have to work to earn money, you may as well enjoy it. I’ll be honest and say no job is perfect, and every occupation is going to have some downsides, but you still should love your job 90% of the time. Life is too short to be anything but happy.
If you are unsure of what career you would like to do, write down things that make you happy. For example, if you like cooking, list everything you could do that involves food. If you like fashion, list everything you could do that involves fashion, even ask to do something voluntary if you need the experience in a certain field.
Don’t settle for a job you don’t enjoy. If you love your work, your passion will shine through. If you are still struggling, try a few different jobs out until you find something you love. Most people think that when you leave college, you need to know what you want to do in life, and some people do and that’s great, but most people don’t. The truth is, they try a few things out until they find something they enjoy.
Make time for friends and family
As much as it is important to aim for your dream career, it’s also equally important to spend time with the people who care for you the most. Sometimes in life, we have bad days and we need that little bit of reassurance to help us along the way. These are the people that will give you that, so don’t neglect them. Additionally, what is the point of getting your dream life if you have no one to share it with? Always make sure you keep time for loved ones, including pets! They will always be there to help you and vice versa.
Enjoying your life is just as important as working hard to make it better. When you are out with loved ones, be 100% present, they will appreciate it more.
Get a few hobbies
What makes you happy? Do more of that. If you like playing sports, find a local sports team. If you like writing, start a blog. Always make time for things that you enjoy doing, and that can make you feel good after doing them, helping your overall happiness. Part of life is about finding what you can achieve, but another part is enjoying other things too. Doing the things you love will give you a sense of wholeness and belonging.
Try something new every now and then
We like routines, and that’s OK. From an early age we are given a routine so we know what we are doing and it becomes a habit. Having a routine gives you a sense of security but if you fall into a routine and never change elements to it, it can become boring. Make sure to try something new once in a while to keep life interesting. Try a new hobby, or explore a new place. Try some new food or buy a new item of clothing. Learn something new every day. Switch things up every now and then.
Keep things organised
I can’t tell you how much being organised can help your mood. I used to have a habit of leaving things about like an unwashed plate and then every time I saw that plate it just looked dirty and reminded me of the chore I needed to do that I was avoiding. Washing that plate up straight away gave me a feeling that I have my life together, and that I am organised. Make sure you keep organised every day, it will help you keep a clear mind and make you feel a little more put together. We all know how good a clean house feels.
Eat a balanced diet
If you constantly put rubbish inside of you, you are likely to start to feel rubbish. Make sure 80% of what you eat is healthy. You wouldn’t put rubbish fuel into a car and expect it to go would you? So make sure you are feeding yourself the quality nutrients you need to be well prepared for the day ahead. Another important thing to remember is to never skip breakfast. If you are going to work hard during the day, you need to fuel that hard work. What happens if you skip breakfast is you usually end up feeling very hungry and scoffing something unhealthy.
Say yes to more opportunities
It’s OK to turn things down now and then, we have all been there when someone asks us to go out and then when the time comes we don’t feel up to it. That’s fine. But if you are turning down opportunities just because you can’t be bothered, then don’t. If you are thinking of your mental health, and need a rest from social activity, then that’s fine, you can turn things down occasionally, but make sure you accept more things than you turn down. When opportunities arise, take them. You never know what you could be missing out on.
Get a great night’s sleep
It may sound obvious, but how can you put your best foot forward if you are always tired? Make sure you have a good night time routine and try to stick to the same bedtime everyday to ensure a good night’s sleep. To achieve as much as you can during the day, you need the energy, so make sure you are getting enough sleep. You will wake up feeling refreshed and ready for what the day has in store.
The morning is a special time, everything feels quiet and peaceful. It feels like you are awake before the rest of the world and that you have a head start. A lot of people find that they are most productive in the mornings too. Use this opportunity when you wake up to get the most important tasks out of the way first.
Did you know that if you get out of bed as soon as your alarm goes off, you will be more energised than if you had a nap? If you nap after your alarm has gone off and manage to fall asleep for an extra few minutes, it can take up to 4 hours to feel fully awake again.
To combat any tiredness in the morning, take a cold shower or splash cold water on your face. Eat a carb/protein breakfast, and a little coffee works wonders too.
Get at least 30 minutes of exercise a day
The benefits of exercise are endless. There are so many reasons why exercise should be a priority in your life. Exercise actually gives you more energy afterwards and makes you feel good about yourself. Exercise releases feel good endorphins that make you feel happier, also, as it makes you fitter, it makes you want to move more, which is turn makes you more productive and less lazy.
Exercising outside can be a huge benefit too as you can take in the pretty scenery whilst you walk. Sitting for long periods during the day can have negative effects on your health. If you work in a job where you sit down all day, try and take small walks every now and then to keep the blood flowing and take a break from your work. Another major positive to exercise is it improves your health, leaving you less prone to future illnesses. Exercise is a free way to feel good.
