How to Lead a More Positive Life

When you're life is more positive, you generally feel better about life in general. You'll feel more peaceful and calm overall. Why would you frown through life when you can smile through it?

Here are some quick tips to help you become more positive today.

Practice gratitude

The reasons for practicing gratitude are endless. It has been proven that people who frequently practice gratitude are more positive, happy and feel more alive. It is very easy to think about the negative things in life, and get in your own negativity bubble. The only trouble with this is it's hard to get back out of it. This creates negative energy and can become a habit if you do it on a regular basis. So take a bit of time everyday to think of everything you are grateful for, no matter how small.

Stop worrying about the future

If you constantly worry about the future, you won't enjoy the present. There is no point in looking forward and not enjoying the present as you will be constantly thinking your life away. The whole point of living is to enjoy it and experience as many things as possible in the now. Thinking about the future is OK for a little while, as you can make plans in the future, but make sure your mind is mostly set to the present or your life may just fly by.

Reconsider negative relationships

It has been proven that you are a product of your environment. So if you want to be a positive person, you need to surround yourself with positive people. It will be difficult to stay positive if there are people bringing you down, or seeing the negative in everything. You need to be around people who make you feel good, bring you up and inspire you. Sometimes, it may be difficult as these toxic people may be family members or a long term friend. The best thing to do with a family member is limit your time with them, for the friend, you may want to reconsider if this friend is worth your time. It's OK to grow apart from people, you may be growing faster than others, and that's OK.

Be open minded

It will be hard to stay positive if you look down on people who have a different opinion to you. No two people are the same, therefore everyone has different opinions. The world would be a very boring place if everyone looked and thought the same things. So it's better to be open minded and listen to other's opinions. You don't have to agree with everything someone else says, but simply listening and seeing things from their perspective may just open your eyes to new ideas.

Don't over analyse

One of the biggest downfalls of alone time is that your brain sometimes fills in gaps. This is a natural reaction for your brain as it naturally sees the negative side to things to keep you safe. Don't listen to these thoughts, just observe them. If there is a situation that is making you worry, and there's an obvious reason for it, then maybe you can figure out what to do about it. But if your brain is just filling in gaps without actually knowing things, you may be over analysing, and how can you enjoy your precious time if you are over thinking all the time?

See the positive in every situation

Life is a roller coaster, and bad things happen unfortunately, we can't avoid that. Some people say that bad things happen to make you grateful for the good times. But it's how you deal with the bad times that say a lot about your character. No matter what the situation is, there is always a positive aspect. When you think more positive, your brain gets into a habit of doing so, and it can become second nature. Negativity is not ingrained in you, it's just a bad habit.

Love yourself

Nobody is perfect, we all make mistakes sometimes, so you shouldn't beat yourself up about them. You live and learn. Is it very important to be comfortable in your own skin, and not compare yourself to others too. You will have qualities that other people don't have and other people will have some qualities that you don't have, it's like comparing a rose with a daffodil. They are both beautiful flowers, but they can never be each other and that's OK, because they are both beautiful in their own way. There are so many qualities you posses, for example, do you have any talents? do you have any specialties? If you are struggling, as your closest friends and family members what they love about you. Take the time to remind yourself of the qualities you have.

Follow your passion

To really live your best life, you have to be fulfilling your passion and feel like you have a purpose. This makes you feel confident and like you have a position in the world. So follow your passion no matter how hard people say it is, and no matter what it is, follow what your heart wants. This is your life and you can live how you want to live.
